Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu new President-elect of the German Society for Radiation Oncology

Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu, FACR, Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Freiburg University Medical Center, was elected as the new President-elect and first Deputy President at the 31st Congress of the German Society of Radiation Oncology (DEGRO) in Dresden. The term of office is two years. Grosu will then assume the office of President for two years. DEGRO is the central scientific society for radiotherapy and radiation oncology in German-speaking countries. Its work contributes to the further development of modern, interdisciplinary, coordinated treatment methods that directly benefit patients.

"DEGRO is an important forum for all professional groups involved in radiotherapy - from medical research to clinical application," says Grosu. "As President-elect, I am delighted to be able to help shape the future of radiation oncology together with colleagues from medicine, physics, biology and nursing."

Interdisciplinary further development of radiation oncology

Doctors, medicalphysicists, radiation biologists, MTRAs, nursing staff and patient representatives work together in DEGRO. The aim is to strengthen the scientific foundations of radiation oncology - with a particular focus on translational research, technological innovations and structured training. The election of Anca-L. Grosu as President underlines the role of the University Medical Center Freiburg as one of the leading institutions in the field of radiotherapy.

Update: An earlier version of the press release stated that Prof. Grosu has been elected President. This has been corrected.
