Heart Weeks: What to do against heart attacks?

Short presentations and discussions on November 18 and 20 as part of the Heart Weeks 2025 / Events in Freiburg and Bad Krozingen

Around 800 people suffer a heart attack every day in Germany - many of which could be avoided with targeted prevention. Experts from the University Heart Center at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg will explain which risk factors play a role, how those affected act correctly in an emergency and which measures support recovery at two public lectures. These will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in the large lecture hall of the Medical Clinic in Freiburg (Hugstetter Straße 55) and on Thursday, November 20, 2025 in the auditorium of the Bad Krozingen campus (Südring 15) from 4 pm to 5.30 pm. Participation is free of charge and registration is not required.

"Heart attacks are often preventable if the risk factors are identified early and taken seriously," says Prof. Dr. Dirk Westermann, Medical Director of the Department of Cardiology and Angiology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "With the lectures, we want to encourage people to actively deal with their heart health and react correctly in an emergency."

A healthy heart through education and prevention

The events are part of the German Heart Foundation's nationwide Heart Weeks 2025, which are being held under the motto "Healthy vessels - healthy heart". An information stand of the foundation will accompany the program. The short presentations will cover key aspects of heart attack prevention, acute medical care and long-term care. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for a direct exchange with the speakers.
