Cystic Fibrosis: Information Session for Patients and Their Families in Freiburg

What new treatment options are available for cystic fibrosis? How can people living with this chronic condition manage it in their daily lives? Answers to these and other questions will be provided at the Cystic Fibrosis Symposium on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Department of Pneumology at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg invites people with cystic fibrosis, their families, and healthcare professionals to this free informational event at the library of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hugstetter Straße 55, 79106 Freiburg. In addition to the latest medical developments, the event will also focus on the psychological and social aspects of the disease. Advance registration is requested.

“Cystic fibrosis is a lifelong condition for those affected. Thanks to new therapies, treatment options have improved significantly in recent years. It is important to us to address not only medical advances but also the challenges of daily life and to encourage personal exchange,” says Prof. Dr. Daiana Stolz, Medical Director of the Department of Pneumology at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg.

Medical Advances and Daily Life with Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is a congenital metabolic disorder in which thick mucus builds up in various organs. The lungs and the digestive system are particularly affected. During the symposium, experts will provide information on current therapeutic developments and treatment prospects. Other topics include the transition from pediatric to adult care, psychological resilience in chronic illnesses, and social welfare issues. In addition to the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to ask their own questions and exchange ideas with experts and other people living with the condition.
