Prof. Dr. Dr. Melanie Boerries, Director of the Institute of Medical Bioinformatics and Systems Medicine at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg, heads the Clinical and Data Platform in the DEFEAT-PDAC project together with colleagues from other locations and a patient representative. The project is establishing a secure, standardized data infrastructure that brings together clinical and scientific data, enabling close collaboration between research and healthcare.
The aim is to bring new therapies into clinical application more quickly, to test innovative combinations in studies, and to identify biomarkers with the help of structured data. The Clinical and Data Platform acts as a central link between translation, data integration, and interdisciplinary cooperation. German Cancer Aid is funding the platform with €1.1 million, of which €350,000 will go to the Medical Center – University of Freiburg.
