Childcare bottleneck?
The flexible childcare is an offer for employees of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg who need a flexible solution in the event of a childcare shortage.
Flexible childcare covers the times that are not covered by the usual opening hours of a childcare facility (e.g. daycare center or after-school care) or the childcare facility has to restrict its opening hours at short notice. This means that the childcare service can be used as a flexible service at these defined off-peak times in the event of work-related requirements.
Please note: Bottleneck childcare is not a permanent solution for organizing childcare.
Bottleneck childcare is offered in cooperation with the Cogo gGmbH agency. This agency offers flexible childcare for children aged 1-12 all year round and includes the following services:
- Childcare hours: Monday to Friday from 07:00 - 22:00, in exceptional cases also at weekends
- Childcare at home or in a separate "nursery" in the Stühlinger district
- Pick-up is possible if required
- Families can get to know the caregivers in advance
Note: The costs are covered up to approx. 45 hours of childcare per calendar year - provided that the care is necessary for work-related reasons .

On the website of the City of Freiburg you will find information on all municipal childcare facilities.
The city of Freiburg has introduced a central reservation system for places in childcare facilities. All facilities use this system to allocate their free places.
You can register with your e-mail address and first and last name. Please note that pre-registration is only possible from the birth of the child and that each child can only be pre-registered once.

The Tagesmütter Verein Freiburg e.V. is a specialist consultancy for child day care and a recognized provider of independent youth welfare services.
This means that the association ensures the expansion and securing of childcare places by qualified childminders.
The children are cared for in a family setting in the home of the childminder or in the parents' home.
