Gastroenterology functional laboratory
In our gastroenterology laboratory, patients with common gastrointestinal complaints such as abdominal pain, flatulence and diarrhea are presented via our own outpatient clinics or wards, as well as general practitioners or registered gastroenterology specialists. Various functional tests can be carried out. These include
- Test for lactose intolerance (H2 breath test with lactose)
- Test for fructose malabsorption (H2 breath test with fructose)
- Test for sorbitol intolerance (H2 breath test with sorbitol)
- Test for small intestine malabsorption (H2 breath test with glucose)
- Helicobacter pylori breath test (13C breath test with urea)
In addition, capsule endoscopies of the small intestine are carried out in the functional laboratory. The laboratory team carries out approx. 1400 tests per year.
As a rule, you must appear for the examinations on an empty stomach; other important preparation procedures will be discussed in advance during registration.
