Interdisciplinary ultrasound center
At the Interdisciplinary Ultrasound Center, we primarily carry out ultrasound examinations of the abdomen. In particular, the upper abdominal organs liver, kidneys, spleen and pancreas are examined. However, diagnostic examinations also include the urinary bladder, lymph nodes, the pleural cavity and the small and large intestine.
Our spectrum is extended by special examinations:
- Color-coded duplex sonography is used in particular to examine the blood flow in the liver, but also the abdominal vessels.
- Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) can be used to better differentiate liver lesions, as well as lesions in other organs, due to their different storage behavior.
- Using a special ultrasound device(Fibro-Scan), we can perform a non-invasive determination of liver fibrosis and fatty degeneration in chronic liver diseases and thus quantitatively measure the extent of damage and fatty degeneration.
- Our nephrology colleagues carry out duplex examinations of the kid neys in kidney diseases and kidney transplant patients.
In total, more than 13,000 examinations are carried out for outpatients and inpatients from all specialist disciplines. We take part in clinical studies of the German Ultrasound Society (DEGUM) and also carry out advanced training.
