Intensive care 3+1 pilot project
In the intensive care area, you will care for patients with acute, serious and/or life-threatening illnesses who require a high level of nursing care and monitoring. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide patient-adapted nursing care. You will also be responsible for assisting patients with diagnostics and therapy.
The complex tasks in everyday nursing care require special skills and knowledge, which you can acquire as part of your advanced training in intensive care according to the "3+1 model" from October 2023 at the university hospitals in Baden-Württemberg.
Do you want to get started in an intensive care unit straight after your training and gain specialist qualifications? With us, you have the opportunity to start advanced training directly after your training. Selected contents of the training are recognized as part of the equivalence for advanced training. With advanced training, you will acquire a fully-fledged qualification in accordance with the requirements of the WVO Nursing Professions Advanced Training Ordinance and graduate with the state-recognized qualification "Nursing Specialist for Intensive Care".

What is the difference between the continuing education qualification and the standard qualification? Is it the same qualification?
You will graduate with the state-recognized qualification "Nursing specialist for intensive care". This is the same qualification as in the previous form of further training.
What can I do if I realize that intensive care is not for me after all?
We will provide you with regular support throughout the entire training and further education period in the form of personal and group coaching and supervision. You can express your concerns and work on them with your coach and colleagues. We will be happy to advise you on the various options at the clinic.
Is it realistic that I will be able to complete advanced training as a newcomer to the profession?
Yes, we will support you with our expertise, be it with technical or other challenges of everyday working life.
How is the remuneration structured?
In the first three years, you will be paid in the same way as during your regular training as a nursing specialist. After that, you will be grouped into the TV-UK:
