Student Teaching
The field of radiation therapy is an integral part of the medical curriculum. Our teaching follows the recommendations of the DEGRO Teaching Working Group and the guidelines of the National Competency-Based Learning Objectives Catalog for Medicine (NKLM).
We place a very high priority on teaching. Our goal is to convey the exciting field of radiation therapy in a modern and student-friendly way, while sparking enthusiasm for our specialty. We aim to provide students with practical knowledge of modern radiation therapy and foster an understanding of its central role in oncological patient care. To this end, we focus on practical content, innovative digital concepts, and close supervision.
The course content covers the fundamentals and clinical applications of radiation therapy:
- Biological and physical fundamentals
- Radiation therapy procedures and workflows
- Radiation therapy and interdisciplinary treatment concepts for major tumor types, e.g., breast cancer, prostate cancer, head and neck tumors, gastrointestinal tumors, and brain tumors.
Modern learning formats, such as interactive case studies, effectively complement in-person instruction, enable flexible learning, and promote an understanding of clinical procedures. Our clinic is therefore actively involved in innovative teaching projects focused on e-learning and digital pedagogy. In cooperation with the digitalization team and thanks to funding from the Faculty of Medicine, we have successfully integrated e-learning into our teaching.
Practical Training: Clinical Internship, Electives & Clinical Rotations
During the Practical Year (PJ), we offer a structured teaching program featuring PJ classes, designated mentors, an M3 preparation course, and regular feedback sessions.
In addition, there is the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the field of radiation therapy through elective courses or a clinical rotation and to actively help shape clinical processes.
Doctoral Studies
We mentor dedicated students in their doctoral projects. Our projects offer insights into exciting questions in radiation medicine. We value close scientific supervision as well as integration into our research groups.
