Special pain care
Duration of advanced training: 3 months
Start of advanced training: annually in February

Our advanced training in "Special pain care" is certified by the German Pain Society.


The next advanced training course is expected to start in the first quarter of 2027.
Nursing care professionals with a professional license in accordance with Section 1 of the Nursing Care Professions Act. This includes
- Professional qualification as a nursing specialist
- Professional qualification as a healthcare and nursing professional
- Professional qualification as a geriatric nurse
- Professional qualification as a health and pediatric nurse.
Participants can:
- explain different types of pain.
- use multi-professional collaboration and assessment procedures effectively.
- differentiate between interventional procedures in pain management.
- apply drug and non-drug pain therapies.
- evaluate therapeutic measures and strengthen patient competence.
- convey pain-related educational content.
- understand the legal framework and relevance of counseling in the healthcare system.
- Recognize and overcome barriers in pain management.
- Understand audits and quality assurance in pain management.
- The advanced training concludes with a colloquium consisting of a case study with written elaboration and oral presentation. This includes the presentation and discussion of the nursing care and treatment process of a patient with complex pain problems, taking into account nursing and interprofessional perspectives.
- Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate with the additional designation "Special Pain Care" from the German Pain Society e.V
- Participation is free of charge for employees of the hospital.
- The course fee for external participants is €1,420.
- For members of the German Pain Society e.V., the course fee is reduced to €1,350 on presentation of the membership certificate.
- The course comprises a total of 120 teaching units.
- You will receive 20 continuing education points as part of the registration of professional nursing care staff.
