Privacy Policy: tala-med Cardio
Privacy Policy
We—the Institute of General Medicine at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg—have developed this app. It is designed to help people make positive changes to their lifestyle in order to prevent cardiovascular disease.
This app was developed in collaboration with physicians, sports scientists, sports psychologists, health scientists, media experts, and IT specialists. The app’s modules are available to the public free of charge and are not for-profit. We take data protection very seriously and comply with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG)!
When downloading the app (from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store), certain information is automatically collected and stored. For example, your email address, the time of the download, or the customer number of your account in the respective store. However, this information is not processed by the Uniklinik Freiburg, but exclusively by the selected store. The app can be used without providing personal data (PD), such as addresses, date of birth, or other data (GDPR Art. 4, Paragraph 1).
The privacy policy for this app is based on the guidelines
“Mobile Apps in Healthcare: Data Protection Requirements,” developed by the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometrics, and Epidemiology (GMDS), the Working Group on “Data Protection and IT Security in Healthcare” (DIG), and the Professional Association of Data Protection Officers in Germany (BvD). Version 1.0
Nature, Scope, and Purpose of Data Collection
No registration is required to use the app. Personal information may be provided for personalized use of the various modules. This data is stored only locally on the mobile phone or tablet and is not transmitted to the server (where the app is stored). Entering this data and using the app are voluntary. When watching videos in the app, they are transmitted from a server to the mobile device. For technical reasons, the
IP address is transmitted to this server in the process. The IP address is a unique address that identifies the mobile device on the internet. This address is stored on many websites and in many apps.
For which user data does the app require which access permissions?
When using the diary feature, it is possible to grant the app access to your own photos, media, and files. To revoke access to photos later, this must be changed in the app’s device settings. Photos, media, or files are not transmitted to the Uniklinik Freiburg or third parties (other individuals or institutions). In addition, the app requires permission to access the internet so that videos can be requested from the server and transferred to the mobile device.
How long is this data stored?
The data entered is stored only on the user’s own mobile phone or tablet and can therefore be viewed only by the user. This data is automatically deleted when the app is uninstalled. The server from which videos are transmitted does not store IP addresses for longer than is technically necessary, for a maximum of one day.
Is user behavior analyzed using tracking tools?
The app does not use any analytics or tracking tools. User behavior is not analyzed.
Use of Cookies

Is data transferred to third parties, and if so, for what purpose?
Data stored in connection with app usage is neither used nor shared.
What rights do users have regarding the deletion, blocking, and correction of data?
When the personal profile is filled out, the information provided is stored on the user’s own mobile device but is not transferred. When the app is uninstalled, this data is deleted. The data can also be manually deleted via the phone’s app settings.
