Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF

Clinical Trials

at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg – CCCF

One of the main research foci at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg – CCCF is translational research. This provides an additional therapy option with promising new substances that have not yet been approved, particularly for patients who do not respond to the standard therapy.

The CCCF tests these new substances with different methods. Human trials are preceded by extensive testing in the laboratory and on animals. New therapeutic approaches are tested in phases I to III of the clinical trials. In addition to efficacy, the safety of patients is always a primary concern. Participants in clinical trials are observed closely by physicians from different disciplines.

A positive vote from the responsible ethics commission is the prerequisite for every clinical trial. The ethics commission is composed of physicians, ethicists, theologians, jurists, and often also patient representatives.

We cooperate closely with the Center for Clinical Trials (ZKS), which was founded at the University Medical Center in 1997.

The results of clinical trials conducted at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg – CCCF benefit all cancer patients. Each treatment is documented and made available to other oncology centers. The doctors monitor the course of the illness or recovery in long-term observations.
