• A point of contact for staff and patients in all questions relating to infection prevention and hospital hygiene
• Surveillance of nosocomial infections and multidrug-resistant pathogens
• Investigation of the increased incidence of certain pathogens by molecular methods applied to type or characterize bacteria isolated, e.g. AFLP and whole genome sequencing
• Hygiene management of patients with pathogens requiring isolation • Risk-based screening for multidrug-resistant pathogens
• Basic hygiene training and departmental training of link nurses and hygiene officers
• Preparing and updating cleaning and disinfection plans, as well as hygiene standards for infection prevention
• Advice on construction and conversion measures
• Hygiene inspections
• Monitoring disinfection and sterilization measures
• Assistance in communication with authorities, e.g. health authorities
• Consulting other hospitals on questions of hygiene
