PhD student (m/f/d)

Project: Analysis of adaptive immune responses in chronic hepatitis B / hepatitis D (HBV/HDV) co-infection in a project embedded in the TRR179 – Determinants and dynamics of elimination versus persistence of hepatitis virus infection.

Your assignments:

You will perform the analyses of immune responses during the natural course of chronic HBV/HDV co-infection and during antiviral therapy. This includes but is not limited to:
  • autonomous processing of research tasks dealing with immune responses in HBV/HDV co-infection application of state-of-the-art and cutting-edge methods of cell and molecular biology including high dimensional FACS, single cell transcriptome analysis and mass cytometry
  • establishing of new methods to elaborate on subsequent research questions
  • presentation of results on regular lab and consortium meetings and international conferences
  • writing of manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals

Prerequisites:

  • we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys translational scientific work in an interdisciplinary and international team
  • graduation (M. Sc.) in biology, molecular medicine or related subjects preferentially with focus on immunology
  • strong interest in translational research and human immunology 
  • distinct working autonomy combined with a high capacity for teamwork
  • a careful and focused working habit
  • enjoy scientific work
  • awareness of careful documentation
  • ability to work independently and as a part of an international team
  • communication skills in English
  • knowledge in presentation skills
