Anesthesia technical assistant (ATA)
Academy for Medical Professions
Preparation and support
Training as an anesthesia technical assistant (ATA) is special training for the diverse tasks of the anesthesia service.
Anaesthesia technicians assist in the preparation, implementation and aftercare of anaesthesia in the various specialist departments. They also assist with the transfer and care of severely injured patients in the shock room. During anesthesia, they work in the surgical team, assist the anesthesiologist and monitor breathing and circulation. They also prepare anesthetics and painkillers, ventilators or infusion bottles and look after patients throughout the operation.
In order for this to function smoothly, a team-oriented and concentrated way of working as well as independent organization and coordination of the work processes in anaesthesia and other areas of operation are required so that the individual work processes can interlock.
