Nursing specialist
at the Freiburg site or Bad Krozingen campus, full or part-time
Our vocational qualification in nursing care opens up access to the various fields of nursing care - from acute care to outpatient care and long-term care.
Versatile tasks
Nursing care specialists care for and look after patients of all ages in inpatient and outpatient care settings. Advising, guiding and supporting people and their families in specific care and life situations is the central activity of nursing care professionals. Nurses focus on the individual preferences of those affected and the specifics of the care situation. Their approach is systematic and process-oriented. They are close to the patient due to their daily presence and are therefore an important link between patient and physician.
In nursing care, irregular working hours, shift and weekend work are part of the job.
Duration & start of training
The three-year full-time training program ends with a state final examination (oral, written and practical). Full-time training begins at the Freiburg location on February 1, April 1, July 1 or October 1. At the Bad Krozingen campus, training begins on February 1 and October 1.
Theoretical and practical training
We offer comprehensive theoretical training in a block system (at least 2,100 hours). All conventional social forms of teaching are used, e.g. problem-oriented learning, case work, practical exercises on models and project work.
We offer a wide range of practical training in various departments of the University Hospital as well as in long-term care and outpatient nursing care (at least 2,500 hours).

- 1st year of training: 1,517 euros
- 2nd year of training: 1,578 euros
- 3rd year of training: 1,674 euros
Part-time training is aimed at parents with children requiring care, people with relatives in need of care or people returning to work. During your training, the University Hospital offers childcare or vacation care.

A "training year" in part-time comprises 16 months, so that the total duration of the training is 4 years and includes about six hours of theory or practice per day.
