Dr. Ing. cand. Joachim Greiner

Doctoral researcher (4D Imaging)

Research Interests:

  • Spatial and temporal characterization of structure and function of cardiomyocytes
  • Machine learning-aided segmentation
  • Computational models of cardiac conduction

Brief CV:

Joachim Greiner studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and obtained his Master of Science in 2018. For his Bachelor’s thesis, he investigated the formation of intracardiac electrograms around ablation lesions in a computational model at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBT) at KIT. From 2017-2018 he visited Prof. Frank Sachse's Lab at the Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI, University of Utah) and analysed tissue microstructure in normal and infarcted hearts. During and following to his research stay, he wrote his Master's thesis on the 'Confocal Microscopy-Based Estimation of Passive Conductivity Tensors in the Normal and Infarcted Heart'. Joachim Greiner joined the 4D Imaging and Computational Modelling sections at the IEKM as a PhD student in 2019.
