This basic course is suitable for medical students and it covers following topics: common errors in statistics, planning an experiment, sample size calculations, graphical data exploration, fundamental statistical terms, statistical tests (such as chi-square, t-test and Wilcoxon test), linear regression models (including ANalysis Of VAriance), logistic regression models, survival analysis (including Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression). We will use practical data examples and exercises using the free software R. Own notebook with R installed is helpful. We will use the book by Peter Dalgaard. Introductory Statistics with R. Springer, 2nd edition, 2008. Course material is in English.
