Nano-Particle Brain-Machine Interfacing
Magnetic Particle Imaging
Functional Magneto-Therapy (FMT)
Super-paramagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles are used in the novel imaging modality Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). We add to our MPI system a magnetic heating coil to non-invasively heat the brain and locally open up the blood-brain barrier. This may allow substances and nanoparticles to permeate into the parenchyma.

"The best implant is no implant"
Our most recent research on brain implants (transcriptomics) casts doubt on the overall benign character of all types of penetrative probes. We are trying to identify an alternative path for 0-dimensional particles through the BBB for both stimulation and recordings.
