Institute of Virology

On different levels, we engage in multiple projects within the Network of University Medicine.

1. NUM-SNID: Fachnetzwerk Infektionen (Prof. Siegbert Rieg, Infektiologie, Freiburg): We participate in this infrastructure project and contribute to patient recruitment and networking with different local and nationwide stakeholders (clinics, biobanking, data repositories, IT)

2. NUM-SNID: Co-Modulkoordination ZNS-Infektionen (PD Dr. Corinna Pietsch, Virologie, Leipzig), We develop an effective system of cooperation in the field of clinical and clinical-epidemiological studies with a particular focus on CNS infections.

3. NUM-SAR: Plattform für Surveillance und Rapid Response, Modul GenSurv, Within this project, we develop and provide a novel whole genome sequencing approach for norovirus to better detect and track nosocomial transmission events. (Dr. Sandra Reuter, IIK, Freiburg).
