On Friday morning, the Irina Nazarenko Team joined the Live Advent Calendar (Lebendiger Adventskalender) of the Center for Pediatrics (Kinder- und Jugendklinik) at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg.

In a series of activities for every day, the pedagogical team of the Center for Pediatrics prepared a session of Christmas carol singing. Our team dressed up with seasonal accessories and brought a lot of nicely wrapped presents and toys on a decorated carriage for the young patients.

We not only joined the singing but each of our international team members shared with the audience impressions about how their culture celebrates Christmas. Each of us marked their place of origin on a world map. Our stories attracted curiosity, and at times brought laughter to the audience of patients, their parents and grandparents.

We enjoyed bringing some delight to both children and their parents during the often long and uncertain time period of healing. We wish them to get well soon and to celebrate at home!
