The researchers in the Molecular Dermatology Laboratories are interested in the genetic and molecular basis of human skin diseases and the molecular mechanisms leading to clinical symptoms. The ultimate goal is to develop novel, biologically valid therapeutic strategies. To achieve this, laboratory and clinical researchers work in close collaboration. The group uses multidisciplinary approaches, including clinical dermatology, molecular genetics, recombinant protein expression, proteomics, cell biology and modern imaging technologies to study human skin and skin cells, and animal models in order to discern disease mechanisms.
