  1. basic research: Ca2+ channels in neurons, synaptic transmission, mechanisms of long-term synaptic plasticity, modulatory activity of serotonin, noradrenaline. Mechanisms of action of psychotropic medication.
  2. Clinical research: bipolar disorder, mood stabilizers, antiepileptic drugs in psychiatry, pharmacokinetic drug interactions

Techniques: Patch-clamp recording from neurons in culture and slices, paired recordings, cell culture. Clinical electrophysiology, evoked potentials. Investigator in phase II-IV clinical studies. ICH/GCP-Training received since 1996.
