References

Flow Cytometry - A Basic Introduction - an online version of Michael Ormerod's book, hosted by Denovo Software. If you are new to flow cytometry, welcome. This is a good place to start.

This reference is an excellent place to start. It's not limited to only immunology. This 200 page "book" in paper form is of general interest, covering most of the major topics in flow cytometry: "Guidelines for the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting in immunological studies"; second edition.

Practical Flow Cytometry - an online version of Howard Shapiro's classic book, hosted by BeckmanCoulter.

Purdue University Cytometry Labs - Informative site including general cytometry links as well as the very helpful  Cytometry e-mail list archives.

Many panels have been developed and are listed as Optimized Multicolor Immunofluorescence Panels (OMIP), special peer-reviewed multicolor panels, and are published in Cytometry Part A.

The Flow Cytometry Core of the Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science has an excellent collection of applications and protocols for flow cytometry.

Compensation: yet another perspective - Check out Mario Roederer's tutorial on correct compensation.

Conjugation of monoclonal antibodies - A set of protocols from Mario Roederer on antibody conjugation.

Guidelines for the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting in immunological studies from the European Journal of Immunology and is a very good methodological paper in covering many aspects of flow cytometry.

Biolegend Web Tool - Useful link with a broad spectrum of information and tools.

R&D Systems has a very useful Cell Marker Interactive Resource Tool which lists the markers typically used to distinguish many different cell types including immune cells, neural cells, stem cells and organelles.

Spectra

Some useful sites containing fluorophore excitation/emission spectra databases are:

Spectraviewer from Thermo Fisher (formerly Molecular Probes).

Fluorescence Spectrum Viewer from Becton Dickinson.

Fluorescent Protein Resource Center - in addition to excitation/emission maxima contains other useful information about fluorescent proteins and their properties.
